Summer coming up I thought it is the time for camping and two compilations of cooking on which fire and which pot to take along are out. And trust me, there are a lot of options to choose from. The longer you are having a home, the more stuff you can buy whereas being away years on end, there’s only what you took or bought along the way. I think I have all possible solutions by now.
A few pouches has been created that were embroidered on our previous house sitting trip to Italy and slowly finished while I was hiking around Italy. Shoreline Gleaner is the latest and it is a belt, for a change. Tina & Ted is a very colorful, good old-fashioned pouch (with a cellphone in mind). Each creation features a story behind the pouch ‘Shoreline Gleaner‘ and ‘Ted & Tina‘. I made a pillow case for a cat ‘V her spot at the window‘ that sold immediately (unfortunately for me to USA that costed me dearly, so I won’t send out to the USA any longer).
With this having said, I am going to check my (new) panniers a last time and see if I got enough threads, fabrics and patterns with me. I did come up with a sublime (if I may say so) pattern for the saddle pain I always suffer from cycling long distance. If this creation turns out successful, I will be able to reproduce is for those who are in need for a saddle-relief attachment. It is made from a discarded sweater, an old Patagonia rain jacket and some straps and cords. And, best of all: sheep wool.

Going on a longer distance trip is so much more easy when not knowing when to come back, if at all, and when not having an own home to return to. Now, I have a home and one that is pleasant to return back to. One of the things I love to do at home is experimenting with colors: there’s a post about trying to figure out how to dye fabrics without using chemicals, only with flowers or barks, but I guess that is not interesting for most who read this post. Although it is linked to things like preparing your own vinegar. Really, some edibles are so easy to make yourself and they’re a world’s difference: just as cycling versus using a car is.
