Counted nearly 50.000 kilometers in about 5 years, more or less continously solo pedaling through more than 40 countries. I started off in Africa, where I cycled first through Europe to get accustomed to the cycling lifestyle. When my bicycle broke down I went back to Europe to have the bicycle fixed and continued on, among other countries, via Iraq and Iran. The highlight and also the downfall of my cycling odyssey happened in South America.

Traveling becomes spectaculair when you meet the locals and are able to talk, even though not speaking a common language. Bosnia & Hercegovina make my heart swell, right on the other side of that mountain!

The teabags I carry hold sayings: ‘When was the last time you were proud of yourself?’, ‘When was the last time you challenged yourself?’, ‘What gives you energy?’, ‘What is a good characteristic of yours?’ and ‘Are you a dreamer, thinker or doer?’ To each saying I give clear answers. I learn a short trip does not necessarily have to be a success in order to be a success.

hell Cindy I hope your husband has recovered since we last chatted, and that you are loving Hungary , I hear great things about Hungary as being a great country, out of your collection the photo that stands out for me was the on of an afghanistan man selling potatoes on the side of the road with a white suit on .

Yes, Geo has recovered from that Ileus. That was quite a thing 😬. Now he is just about fine again, he’d shaved off a big piece of thumb with a grinder.
Hungary is lovely. Not a great travel destination but lovely overall.
I find that man in white suit also great, because his suit is so clean (being it white is strange), it has even embroidery on it! He’s a vegetable seller, if I remember correctly. Afghanistan, was also quite something 🙃🥴

When we came to Hungary, we were here just 3 days, Geo got very sick. It turned out to be Ileus. Do you know what this is? Thank God, he was operated immediately, brought by the downstairs neighbors collegues to the hospital (the neighbor is head of ambulances!) Geo is recovered, the shock was real and the scar big. Oh, what a shock it was! So thankful that he is well again.

O, wow, I wonder if Geo got severely dehydrated and food blocked his intestine? Must have been a huge shock to you both. Sorry to hear but great that he is back to healthy. Big hug to you both.
Well, that could very well be. He is always drinking too little. And the past year had been quite stressfull, so it could have to do with all these facts together. Although the chirurg said it can happen to anyone, at anytime…
